Challenge
To ensure the Nestlé brand sites met the needs of web users with disabilities. The specific brief was to ensure Nestlé met AODA compliance standard when they come into law in 2021. We expanded our audit to also include general usability issues which would impact accessibility.
Process
While using accessibility tools such as Wave and Axe identifies many of the issues, particularly from a coding perspective, there is no substitute for manually going through all the pages searching for issues such as keyboard traps and insufficient focus states.
We created a deck which highlighted infractions and recommended solutions. We presented our findings to the client and worked with the development team to implement the updates.
Outcome
Nestlé Canada's website now meets WCAG AA standards.
